Lesson 4: Developing Tolerance and an Appreciation for Diversity
A college campus is a “big tent.” There are people from many different racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds who are attending your school. This situation provides a wonderful learning opportunity for you because, in order for you to become a true “citizen of the world,” it’s important that you develop an appreciation for people who are different from you.
We have a great deal in common. We all want to make a contribution in regard to making this world a better place for our having lived in it. Also, we all want to have loving, caring relationships with our families and friends. The truth is that we’re a lot more similar than we are different.
