Lesson 9: Deciding What You Want To Be
Most likely, when you were young, adults asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up. Now that you’re in college, you should pretty well know, right? Well, if you’re like most first-year students, the answer is probably no. And, believe it or not, it can be a really good thing to go to college without any preconceived ideas regarding what you want to be. You will be exposed to career opportunities at school that you haven’t even considered.
The college campus provides an environment like no other to explore your options in regard to your future career. Some things to consider in choosing your career will be money (immediate and long-term), job location, the amount of schooling required, possibilities for advancement, whether or not a job suits your talents, and if it’s something you’ll enjoy doing for many years to come.
