Lesson 1: Avoiding Over-Reaction
When we analyze our children’s behavior, we tend to react critically when their actions do not follow our expectations. However, if we take the time and effort to understand the behavior, we often discover that there were either special circumstances or a lack of clear communication regarding our expectations. So, one of the techniques of giving unconditional love is for adults to guard against over-reaction to what appears to be bad behavior upon the part of a child. Before delivering a lecture or dishing out discipline, the parent should first ask some questions and allow some time to discover the facts.
