Lesson 1: What’s Cool?
One of the greatest desires of most teenagers is to be perceived as “cool.” Right? But wait. What ex- actly IS “cool”?
Even babies try to be cool. They do! They quickly learn what gets the most positive response from the people most important to them. They grin and learn clever tricks such as bouncing to music and blowing big, spitty bubbles to gain attention. As they get older, they feel “cool” as long as their parents and caregivers are loving and pleased with them. Adolescence (the teenage years), however, brings on new definitions of “cool.”
