Lesson 6: Good Grief

The process of dealing with the loss of things that are important to us is called the grieving process. For example, we grieve over something as simple as changing schools or something as devastating as the changes in the family caused by the divorce of our parents. For most of us, the worst grief takes place when a loved one dies. Losing a parent, a grandparent, a longtime friend, girlfriend, or boyfriend is difficult and painful. Death is a natural part of life–and so is grieving. We must live through it, no matter how vul- nerable and alone we may feel.
